The Argonne Introduction to High-Performance Computing (HPC)
External Opportunities / Events

The Argonne Introduction to High-Performance Computing (HPC) Bootcamp provides STEM students with a one-week immersive, hands-on experience applying computational and data science tools and techniques to complex science problems.

The bootcamp brings together participants from across disciplines, supported by peer mentors and national laboratory staff, as they learn foundational concepts in high-performance computing and apply them to projects focused on real-world energy challenges.

To learn more details about the program’s mission and goals, please see our About page.

Argonne Training Program on Extreme-Scale Computing (ATPESC)
External Opportunities / Events

The Argonne Training Program on Extreme-Scale Computing (ATPESC) provides an intensive, two-week training on the key skills, approaches and tools to design, implement and execute computational science and engineering applications on current high-end computing systems and the leadership-class computing systems of the future.

Programming will focus on programming methodologies that are effective across a variety of supercomputers and that are expected to be applicable to exascale systems. Additional topics to be covered include computer architectures, mathematical models and numerical algorithms, approaches to building community codes for HPC systems, and methodologies and tools relevant for Big Data applications.

Introduction to GPU Acceleration with Python
External Opportunities / Events

Introduction to GPU Acceleration with Python

  • Date: 12 October 2026
  • Format: online
This practical training introduces participants to GPU computing with Python and shows how NVIDIA GPUs can accelerate artificial intelligence, data analytics and scientific computing applications. Participants will learn to use CuPy as a GPU-accelerated alternative to NumPy, write basic CUDA kernels with Numba CUDA, compare CPU and GPU performance, and identify when GPU acceleration can provide meaningful benefits. Working directly on Luxembourg’s MeluXina supercomputer, they will also gain hands-on experience requesting GPU resources and running CUDA Python applications through Slurm.

The Europaeum Winter School 2027: The Individual in the Age of AI
External Opportunities / Events

Artificial intelligence is reshaping the conditions of human agency, identity, and autonomy at a pace that outstrips our capacity to understand it. Algorithms increasingly mediate how we work, learn, form relationships, and understand ourselves. This Europaeum Winter School will examine how our individuality is destabilised when our preferences are predicted, our choices shaped by recommendation systems, or our creative and intellectual labour replicated. It will engage questions of how personal autonomy can be protected in algorithmically mediated societies, how work and human purpose can survive advances in automation, and what issues of accountability, consent, and dignity arise in human-AI interaction.

Applicants must be Master’s or PhD students enrolled at a university or a department that is a member of the Europaeum network.

To apply, please send your completed application form, brief CV and statement of purpose (up to 500 words) to applications@europaeum.org. One academic reference should also be sent directly by your referee to the same email by the deadline. If also applying to present a paper, please include a short abstract of the proposed paper (up to 500 words).

Deadline for submission of applications: 19 October 2026
